In this tape, Coach Larranaga details the five different forms this defense can take: man, quick trap, slow trap, twist, and zone pressure. He teaches the positioning and responsibilities of all five players in each situation and when is the best time to employ each. Jim Larranaga: The Scramble Defense
with Jim Larranaga,
George Mason University
Coach Larranaga builds the Scramble from the ground up through chalkboard instruction and game and practice footage to highlight key points. Starting with 1-on-1 drills, he takes you through each phase of the Scramble (2-on-2, 3-on-3, and 4-on-4) until you reach the 5-on-5 frenzy that has made the Scramble famous. The Scramble is a man-to-man defense with trapping principles. Use it regularly to take your opponents out of their offensive rhythm or use it sparingly to surprise the offense and force key turnovers. The Scramble can be used as a half-court or 3/4-court trapping defense.
